Off to Sydney for a couple of day’s break. It is a beautiful city, full of life, water, beauty and people. It is one of my favourite cities in the world. Good coffee, good food, friendly people.
Today we have a few sites from inner Eastern Sydney. Observe! Enjoy!
Sel e Poivre in Victoria St, Darlinghurst, is one of my favourite hangouts. Not that the coffee is really good, or the food either. But it is a relaxed cafe, the staff have been very kind to me in the past, and the little bit of french flavour is lovely. Sit inside or out.

One of the best experiences in Sydney (and there are many) is a coffee outside at the Yellow Bistro, down at the lower end of Maclay Street in Potts Point. Inside is a bit stuffy and noisy, but if you can grab an outside seat it is very special. I had a long chat there to the owner on food, photography and their up and coming cookbook.

Yellow Bistro is Very Famous for its cakes and tarts. I indulged in a lovely Lemon Tart.

The hotel I am staying in is cute and friendly. Mainly an artists’ hotel, it is very central to everything wonderful. Not luxurious but you don’t feel like you are skimping on anything. Large rooms, big pillows, a kitchenette, windows that open (yay!) and hot hot water. Oh, and a desk for blogging. It’s name? Regents Court Hotel in Springfield Lane, Potts Point.

It is inner city, so there is always something going on outside my window. One of the apartments across the lane is being renovated. Oh and a dead palm tree. ???

Ok, coffee IS serious business in Sydney, as is food, money, cars, pubs, beaches, water, sailing, …… Some more shots of coffee imbibing.
Another shot from Yellow, and one from The Otherside in Paddington.

Outside The Otherside

and, by contrast, in the Entertainment Centre at Fox Studios.

Finally, brunch and coffee, quintessentially Sydney, in Maclay St, Potts Point.

More tomorrow…

Hi Kimberley and Srivalli. thanks for your thoughts – I love that you dropped by. Kimberley, that is fabulous that the peppers / capsicums were a great hit. Aren’t they amazing when they are sticky!

Hi Arun, Yikes, you need a good coffee shop!
Thanks, lakshmi, they are very yummy and easy to make.
bee you would love Sydney. Sydney takes its work and money very seriously, but when it comes time to relax and eat and do coffee, it does that with as much focus and dedication. You would love it. The weather is so beautiful and lends itself to this lifestyle. As well as the magnificent harbour.
