RIP Food Blog Desam, Hello Foodie Blogroll and What’s Cookin’

Autumn is Coming

It was a shock when I returned from holidays, eager to review the posts from Food Blog Desam. It wasn’t there! Food Blog Desam has lived its life and this service that fed thousands of us with daily treats from across the globe is no longer. RIP. And thank you to the two wonderful people, Indira from Mahanandi and Mathy Kandasamy of Virundhu who put it together and maintained it all this time.

But I am so pleased to announce that I have joined Foodie Blogroll, by Jen the Leftover Queen. I am looking forward great food and meeting new friends. Click hereif you want to join Foodie Blogroll.

I am a bit shocked too, at feeling that summer is going too quickly. December was here, with a bit of warm weather, but I was so busy first with work and then with Xmas, that I didn’t get to appreciate it enough. Then after 2 more weeks of very hectic work, I was overseas holidaying for 5 weeks. Now I find that pumpkins are in the markets, and brussell sprouts. Plums too. Onions. Aaaahhh! Where did my summer go? I feel that I have not had enough long lusciously warm evenings, salads, fruit, beaches and beautiful sunshine.

Autumn too soon

[Resolution: eat all the summer fruits and make lots of salads from summer greens while they are still available and until only pumpkins and potatoes feature in the markets.]

There were many other shocks too – it is strange how the world can change in 5 weeks. Even the street that I live in had changed. So to help ground me and bring some normality back into my life, let’s check the top posts for February. Did you miss any? Which was your favourite? The top post BY FAR was on The Making of Teas. It has twice as many visits as the next most popular post.

More on the Making of Teas Chickpea in all its glory Buttery Steamed Rice Dukkah Tofu Squares Rolls Rice A Tomato Feast Beans Galore Taking Stock Chickpea and Ginger Salad Cumquat Marmalade Chickpea Chat

Oh, and the other (great) shock is that I have passed 30,000 visits to my site (Measured by WordPress) and this is my 75th post.

I would love to see you on there to chat about food and cooking you can talk about anything you like and start your very own topics. :-)

    Hope to see you soon

    Thanks

    Jeena x

Hi Jeena. Good luck with your food recipe forum. Thanks for letting us know. Great that you could visit and hope you come again.

even though food blog desam is no more, there’s a similar new forum called Taste of India.

    http://connect.sailusfood.com/

it would be great to see you there.

Hi bee, thanks for mentioning this. I have tried to join before without success. Will try again. But certainly will subscribe to its feed.
    I do so miss FBD.

  3. Bri says:

Thanks for solving the Food Blog Desam mystery for me. I noticed it wasn’t showing up as sending me visitors and I kept meaning to see if it still existed. Well, now I know. RIP. I’ll have to check out the suggestions made by Jeena and Bee (thanks you two). Ooooo bright purple plums…this whole opposite season thing still trips me out. :)

Hi Bri, I was addicted to FBD, so it was quite a shock. Can’t quite bring myself to eat the plums yet – I am still doing peaches, apricots and cherries.

  4. Maninas says:

Yes, FBD was great… I miss it, too. :(

Don’t know if I can join Taste of India, because I don’t post mainly Indian recipes (though that’s the second biggest category in my recipe list!).

Hi Maninas, we all miss FBD. Daily! I so miss that collection of yummy Indian food. But Taste of India sure is great, always sure to engage my Indian cooking genes and get me back into the kitchen and my spice cupboard.

  5. Cynthia says:

You can always send an email to Sailaja who now hosts Tastes of India.

Be sure to stick to that resolution before all the summer-like things are gone from the market.

Hi Cynthia! Just a note to let you know that the weather has returned to 40C temperatures for a week now. Although the light is different – very much autumn light now, softer, more golden – the weather is still stuck in summer. YAY!

Welcome! I hope you are enjoying what you see here. Thank you so much for your comment and your thoughts.
