A perfect Spring day here, hot and clear, and smells delicious, as all Spring days should. We cranked up the BBQ and cooked up a feast. You can make this Hot Tomato Salad in the oven or in the BBQ, your choice.

Hot Tomato Salad from the BBQ*
* The Weber Q is mine, this is not an advertisement, paid or otherwise. You can, of course, cook the tomatoes in the oven rather than on the BBQ.
Take a punnet of small tomatoes and tip them into a bowl. Drizzle some olive oil over them, and mix with your hands, so that the tomatoes are coated with the olive oil.
Tip them into a vegetable basket (which comes with the Weber Q) or into a foil pan, and cook on a medium hot BBQ for 15 – 20 mins till hot and cooking but without collapsing.
Place the tomatoes on a nice plate or in a bowl and drizzle with very good extra virgin olive oil. Sprinkle some sea salt and black pepper over the top.
(I added some of my Kitchen Spice Mix over the top too. This is comprised of left over dried herbs and spices ground together and sits on my Kitchen Bench, for use whenever I want to lift a dish. At the moment it is heavy with pippali (long pepper), curry leaves and rosemary. You can add any of your fav spice mixes – just a tiny bit – or omit the spices.)
Scatter with torn basil pieces.
