Another beautiful lassi, this time with a hint of chilli and green coriander.

A lassi is a yoghurt based Indian drink that cools the effect of hot summers. It is originally from the Punjab and Multan in India and is usually taken with breakfast or lunch. It really is an ancient smoothie, originating around 1000 BCE.

Salt Lassi with Chilli and Green Coriander | Indian Savoury Yoghurt Drink

Serves: 1 – 2 people, depending how you use it

ingredients
1 cup Indian (Desi) or Greek Yoghurt
4-6 ice cubes
1 tspn chopped green chilli
chopped green coriander leaves
0.5 tspn salt

method
Mix all ingredients in a blender until nice and frothy. Serve chilled.

recipe notes
Add one or more of the following – grated ginger, cumin powder, mint, chaat masala, lemon juice, pinch sugar or jaggery.

Use a combination of salt and black salt for a tangy lassi.

Make a tadka of black 0.25 tspn mustard seeds and add to the lassi.
