Minty Yoghurt-Tahini Dressing and Sauce

Minty Yoghurt-Tahini Dressing and Sauce

If you are like us, you will love the different ways that sauces and dressings can be made with yoghurt. And yoghurt and tahini combine amazingly well. Today is another variation on this theme, making a beautiful Egyptian style sauce and dressing that is perfect with salads, falafel and other snacks.

It is very easy to make, the ingredients are simply whisked together.

Minty Yoghurt-Tahini Dressing and Sauce

Minty Yoghurt-Tahini Dressing and Sauce

1 cup Greek or Indian (non-sweetened) yoghurt
3 Tblspn tahini
1 garlic clove, crushed
juice of half a lemon
2 Tblspn mint, chopped (or use about 0.5 Tblspn dried mint)
1 spring onion (scallion), finely chopped
a little sea salt and black pepper

Whisk all of the ingredients together. If it needs thinning to a pouring consistency, add a little water and mix well. Top with mint leaves and spring onion slices.

Serve as a salad dressing for a green salad, or as a sauce for grilled, fried or steamed vegetables. It also goes well with fried snacks like falafel, or simply with some Middle Eastern flatbread as a dip.
