Pepper and Turmeric Cauliflower with Lime

Wow! When you need a taste bomb to add real spark to your day, this is the dish for you. Cauliflower is cooked in a paste of liberal amounts of pepper with garlic, ginger and warming spices. It has plenty of bite from the pepper and ginger and tang from lime juice. You will adore it. This dish is commonly known as the Cauliflower Pepper Fry and there are many variations of the dish. Serve with rice or chapati with yoghurt.

Pepper and Turmeric Cauliflower with Lime

Pepper and Turmeric Cauliflower with Lime | Milagu Cauliflower

1 small – medium cauliflower, chopped into florets
1 onion, chopped
0.75 tspn turmeric powder
2 Tblspn ghee
1 lime, for juice
sea salt to taste

grind together
1 Tblspn black peppercorns
2 tspn cumin seeds
2 cm cinnamon stick
2 cloves
2 green cardamom pods
1 tspn fennel seeds
1 sprig curry leaves
1 Tblspn ginger-garlic paste

Heat the ghee in a kadhai or saute pan and saute the onions until beginning to brown. Add the spice paste and saute over a low heat for a moment, stirring with the onions.

Add the cauliflower florets and toss with the spices and onions. Stir fry for 5 mins.

Add the turmeric and sea salt and toss well. Add 2 – 3 Tblspn water (or more if needed), mix well, cover and cook over low heat for approx 10 mins until the cauliflower is cooked.

Squeeze over the juice of a lime and serve with rice or chapati and a yoghurt side dish.
